Encryption

• In transit — all traffic between your devices, cameras and our servers is secured with SSL/TLS.
• At rest — video clips and account data are encrypted in storage so files are unreadable without authorized access.

Infrastructure

VMS Guru runs on hardened cloud infrastructure with high-availability targets. Storage is isolated per account, network access is restricted by firewalls and security groups, and systems are patched and monitored on an ongoing basis.

Access control

• Role-based access control (RBAC) so team members only see what their role allows.
• Least-privilege access for our internal staff, granted only when needed to operate or support the service.
• Strong authentication on accounts; we recommend unique passwords and protecting your credentials.

Audit logging

Every video retrieval and claim action is logged with a timestamp and the responsible user, giving you a full audit trail. This protects the integrity of your evidence and supports marketplace dispute requirements.

Retention & deletion

Video is retained for the backup window of your plan — typically 30, 60 or 90 days — and then securely deleted from active storage. You control your retention tier, and account data is handled per our Privacy Policy.

Backups & resilience

Data is stored on redundant infrastructure to guard against hardware failure and data loss. We aim for high uptime and design the pipeline to keep your evidence available when you need to file a claim.

Incident response

We maintain processes to detect, contain and respond to security incidents. In the event of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Your role in security

• Keep your account credentials confidential and use strong, unique passwords.
• Grant team access on a need-to-know basis and remove members who leave.
• Secure the cameras and networks at your premises and keep your devices updated.
